Fixing Inquisitor in Snow Leopard

October29

Inquisitor is one of my favorite plugins for Safari. But under Snow Leopard, it’s broken. In fact all plugins depending on the InputManager folder are broken now.

But there’s a fix!

Problemo number one:
All plugins must be owned by the root account.

Open terminal, navigate to /library/inputmanagers/.
Execute the following: chown -R root:admin *
That solves that.

Problemo number deuce:
No plugins will be loaded by an app running in 64-bit mode.

Go to your applications folder, select Safari.
Press Cmd+i to get info and activate “Open in 32 bit mode”.
Restart Safari.

And that should fix it.

I did exactly as the post told, with no success enabling inquisitor. Searching the url bar still returns the same result as before – namely “can’t open the page…”
