Alan Turing may recieve official apology

August18

petition on the 10 Downing Street website calling for an official apology from the Prime Minster for the “prosecution of Alan Turing that led to his untimely death” has already attracted 2,200 signatures.

WWII crypto analyst and computer pioneer Alan Turing was persecuted into commiting suicide by the British government. It’s a real tragedy that a man of such brilliance and who did so much to change the tide of WWII in the favour of the UK was given such shameful treatment after the war – simply because he was gay.

Whereas I feel it is important that the British establishment owns up to it’s dark past, the damage is already done. Something like this should never have happened in a democracy in the first place.

P.S: A rather lame apology has been given by PM Gordon Brown

Hubble Ultra Deep Field
The Hubble Ultra Deep Field in 3D

Astronomy has always fascinated me, no other pursuit has given me a real sense of my place in the existence like it has.

I can still recall sitting with a borrowed telescope in a freezing cold field in the middle of November and seeing the Andromeda galaxy for myself. I felt very small and at the same time very privileged to be able to grasp even this tiny fraction of the Universe.
One day I’ll get myself a nice telescope and again sit in freezing fields in the middle of the night. Maybe you should too?

40K TACTICA: Napoleon Knows Best

August11
Whilst surfing around the web, I found something on one of my favorite Warhammer websites that might be of interest for all you Warhammerists out there (God knows it's an interesting read of tactica)! Check this article out before you attempt to claim (or re-claim) your portion of the cake. May Harry the Hammer be with you all, good girls as well as bad boys.

“It is an accepted maxim of war, never do what your enemy wishes you to do, for this reason alone, that he desires it.” – Napoleon Bonaparte Great advice, NB. But in 40K, we define objectives before a single model is placed. How do we go about not doing as our enemy wishes, since he knows the objectives just as we do? Understand the Limits of their List First, look to their unit choices. Are they an assault army, a shooting army, all about the Reserves and outmaneuvering? These are answered... Visit Bell of Lost Souls for the full article.
